Community-focused. Honest about costs.
Support Webspansion.
The websites are always free for clients. Running the project isn't. Here's what support actually helps with — and what it doesn't.
☕ Support on Ko-fiFree for clients. Not costless to run.
Every website Webspansion builds is genuinely free for the client — no invoices, no upsells, no "premium tier." That part isn't changing.
But keeping the project going has real costs: AI tools, software, domain registration when I can cover it, content production, outreach to reach more communities, admin work, and the time it takes to build something worth shipping.
Support helps make that sustainable. Not as a charity. Just as a project worth keeping alive.
What support may help cover
Funds help the overall Webspansion project — not any one specific client, unless clearly stated.
AI Tools & Claude Usage
Webspansion uses AI to work faster and build smarter. Those tools have real API and subscription costs.
Domain Registration
When possible, covering a custom domain (~$10–15/yr) for a client who needs one but can't cover it.
Software & Dev Tools
Design software, browser testing, code editors, and other tools used to actually build the sites.
Outreach & Marketing
Reaching new clients, producing social content, and getting the word out to communities who need this.
Content Creation
Writing, editing, and producing blog posts, social content, and client-facing materials.
Admin & Operations
Client coordination, follow-up, project management, and the logistics that keep things moving.
Contractor & Editor Fees
If a contractor or editor helps with a specific piece of work, support may help cover that.
Project & Founder Time
The time it takes to run Webspansion — building sites, managing clients, and keeping the project alive.
Support on Ko-fi
Any amount helps. Ko-fi lets you make a one-time contribution — no subscription, no commitment, no account required.
☕ Support on Ko-fiContributions are not tax-deductible. See the full transparency note ↓
Transparency note
Webspansion is not currently a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
Contributions are not tax-deductible charitable donations.
General support funds help the overall Webspansion project and are not restricted to any one specific client or website unless clearly stated.
This isn't a fake charity setup. Webspansion is a real student-run project where websites are genuinely free for every client. Support helps cover the tools, time, and infrastructure that make that possible. If Webspansion's status changes in the future, that will be clearly updated here. Questions? Email help@getwebspansion.org.
Future sponsorship options
These specific tiers are not active yet. Webspansion will only offer them once there's a clear tracking and reporting system. Shown here for transparency on where this is heading.
General Support
No restrictions — helps the overall project. This is what Ko-fi currently covers.

Help cover AI API costs and software subscriptions used to build client websites.
Sponsor Content & Outreach

Sponsor a Student Builder

Support FAQ
Honest answers about how support works.
Is Webspansion a nonprofit? +
Not currently. Webspansion is a community-focused project run by a student developer, but it is not currently a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
Are contributions tax-deductible? +
No. Contributions to Webspansion via Ko-fi are not tax-deductible charitable donations at this time. If that changes in the future, it will be clearly stated here and on Ko-fi.
Where does support money go? +
Support may help cover AI tools and Claude usage, domain registration when possible, software and dev tools, content creation, outreach, admin work, contractor or editor fees, and project and founder time. It helps the overall project — not any one specific client.
Does 100% of support go directly to client websites? +
No — and it would be misleading to say that. General support helps keep the overall Webspansion project running. If Webspansion introduces specific sponsorship options in the future (like "Sponsor a Domain"), those funds will be clearly labeled, tracked, and reported separately.
Can I sponsor a specific domain or website? +
This may be possible in the future. Webspansion will only offer specific sponsorship categories once there's a clear system to track and report how those funds are used. For now, Ko-fi support helps the overall project with no restrictions.
